DEATH: Obituary of Mary Robb Fisher: Died on June 19, 1880 at the residence of her son, John Fisher, in Whitman county, W. T., Sister Mary Fisher, wife of Bro. Frederic Fisher. She was born in Alleghany county, Pennsylvania, July 29 1796. Removed with her father, Thos. Robb, to Kentucky in 1806, thence to Brown county, Ohio, where she was married to Frederic Fisher, April 16, 1818. and in the same year obeyed her Lord and Master, and since that time she has lived a consistent Christian. As a wife, devoted and kind; as a mother, exemplary and affectionate; as a neighbor, benevolent and loved by all who knew her. This good old soldier of the cross fell asleep in Jesus in her 84th year, leaving her devoted Christian husband of the same age. They lived together 62 years. Well might father Fisher say in the language of the poet: It grieves my heart, "Tis hard to part With one who was so kind; Where shall I go To tell my woe, Or ease my troubled mind." She leaves five children to mourn their loss. A funeral sermon was preached by the writer on the 20th, at 11 o'clock a.m.. Her remains were then taken to her last earthy resting place, her gentle spirit having returned to God who gave it. She has gone from us, and while with sad hearts we say farewell, the echo responds--until the resurrection morn. But we thank God that we do not mourn as those who have no hope. Your brother in Christ, C.J. Wright. BURI: CEME Eden Valley Cemetery |
