From Jeff Reinlach: "3Brothers settled in Lancaster Co, PA on Jan 3, 1739. A land grant was issued to Jean (John)Gockley in Cocalico Township, now Clay Township, upon which he settled, cleared the land and farmed it. At the time, the Gockleys settled in the Wilderness. THe Indians were their neighbors. Nearby are two springs. The Indians got their water at one of them, and the Gockleys at the other. These springs are known today as the Gockley SPring and the Indian Spring. In 1773, John Gockley was assessed for 200 acres of land, 2 horses and 5 cattle.
